NL Verpakt is the data controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Which data do we process?
We process personal data of users who use our services, our platform or who contact us. This includes among other things:
- Name, email address, company name, phone number, job title and user role;
- Data sent via contact forms, including name, email address, phone number and company name;
- Email address and name for sending newsletters (after opt-in);
- Technical information such as IP address, browser type, session duration and click behaviour;
- Metadata about companies, such as industry, region and platform interaction;
- Payment data such as status, reference number and linked email (processed via Stripe; we do not store card details).
For which purposes do we process personal data?
We use personal data exclusively for the following purposes:
- Delivering our services through the platform;
- Creating and managing user accounts;
- Handling contact requests;
- Processing payments via Stripe;
- Sending newsletters (after consent);
- Improving and securing the website and services;
- Conducting market analyses based on anonymised metadata;
- Complying with legal obligations.
What is the legal basis for this processing?
The processing of personal data takes place on the basis of:
- Performance of a contract;
- Legitimate interest, such as improving our services;
- Consent, for example to receive newsletters;
- Legal obligation, such as fiscal retention requirements.
Do we share data with third parties?
We only share personal data with third parties when necessary for our services. This includes among others:
- Supabase Inc. / Supabase EU, for hosting our database, storing uploaded files and authentication;
- Vercel Inc., for hosting and delivering the website and server functionality;
- Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., for processing payments and subscriptions;
- Resend, for sending transactional emails (such as account confirmations and notifications);
- DeepL SE, for the automatic translation of user-entered content between Dutch and German;
- Google Maps Platform, for filling in address suggestions during onboarding (only if you use this field);
- Google Analytics (after cookie consent), for analysing website use.
Data processing agreements have been concluded with these parties where necessary. For transfers outside the EU, we use appropriate legal safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
Public company listings and user profiles
Nederland Verpakt displays public listings on its platform of companies active in the packaging industry. These so-called basic profiles are compiled based on publicly available sources such as company websites, public business directories, industry overviews or the Chamber of Commerce register.
A basic listing may include:
- the company name,
- industry and location,
- a short factual description of the business activities (as published on the company website), and
- the company logo, if it is publicly available via official company communication channels.
This data is used solely to support the informative character of the platform. Nederland Verpakt does not use this information in promotional or commercial statements and does not present companies without a paid profile as customers or partners in any way.
Companies listed in this way always retain the option to:
- adjust their profile (for example by claiming it);
- have their profile (temporarily) hidden;
- or have their listing removed entirely.
Requests can be sent to info@nederlandverpakt.nl. We handle such requests without undue delay. On removal, the data is deleted within a reasonable period, unless a statutory retention obligation applies.
Cookies and similar techniques
We use functional and analytics cookies. Functional cookies are necessary for the website to function (such as login sessions). For analytics, preference and marketing cookies we ask for prior consent via a cookie banner. More information can be found in our cookie policy.
Security of personal data
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to secure personal data, including the use of encryption (TLS/SSL), access control, logging and protection against unauthorised access. Our backend runs on Supabase and Vercel, both ISO-certified providers with EU data centres.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the following rights:
- Right to access, correct and delete your data;
- Right to restriction of or objection to processing;
- Right to data portability;
- Right to withdraw consent (for example for newsletters);
- Right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

Retention periods
We do not retain personal data for longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. In general, we apply the following periods:
- Account data: up to 24 months after the last login or activity;
- Newsletter data: until the moment of unsubscription;
- Contact requests: up to 12 months after handling;
- Invoicing and payment data: 7 years on the basis of tax legislation.
International transfer
For some services we use suppliers outside the European Economic Area. This includes:
- Stripe (United States);
- Vercel (United States — execution takes place in EU region);
- Google (United States).
These parties process data in accordance with the GDPR on the basis of standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Changes
We may amend this privacy policy. The most current version is always available on our website. For material changes we will inform users via the platform or by email.
