Flexible thermoforming film

Flexible thermoforming film

Some combinations available from Van den Broek Packaging: Standard PA/PE film with a standard PA oxygen barrier and the usual PE as the sealing layer. Film with a high oxygen barrier, such as PA/PE/EVOH/PE, but with the standard PE sealing layer. This ensures the product has the longest possible shelf life. Film with a standard or high oxygen barrier and high puncture resistance for sharp products, such as spare ribs, pork chops, drumsticks and the like. Film that is resistant to high temperatures, intended for products that are cooked in the packaging; various types of film are available for temperatures ranging from 75 to 120 degrees Celsius. Film with an alternative sealing medium, Surlyn, for cases where excellent adhesion is required. There are also options to customise various variants of the PE sealing medium.

Rigid thermoformed film

Rigid thermoformed film

In almost all cases, rigid film is used as the bottom layer. Rigid film is only suitable for gas-flushed packaging. Examples include packaging for diced bacon and sliced cheese. Examples of rigid thermoformed film include APET, with PE as the sealing medium. APET can be produced with a high EVOH oxygen barrier or with a peelable layer. In these cases, the top film is not rigid, but flexible and clear. Several variations are possible in this configuration. A rigid top film is also possible in some cases.

Topseal film

Topseal film

Van den Broek Packaging supplies film for all types of trays using the following sealing materials: PP (for so-called PP trays), PE (usually for rigid trays but also for foam trays), trays without a sealing medium (APET or C-PET trays) and, finally, aluminium trays. All of these are available as bulk packaging or consumer packaging. The film available comes in a number of key variations: – anti-condensation film– peelable film– various oxygen barriers– microwave-safe “microwaveable” – oven-safe– printed film, both flexographic and rotogravure

Flowpack film

Flowpack film

Van den Broek Packaging supplies film for both horizontal and vertical flow-packers. As is often the case, several types and thicknesses of film are available. Clear OPP film or PP film with various oxygen barriers, with or without an anti-fog coating. Flow-pack film with PE as the sealing medium, which may also feature a quick-seal layer (sometimes necessary when packaging heavy products using a vertical flow-packer). Film is also available for filling hot liquid products.

Hibassk thermoformed film & vacuum bags

Hibassk thermoformed film & vacuum bags

This unique film was developed and patented by Van den Broek Packaging itself. The film is particularly effective when vacuum-packing beef, for example, whether cut into technical cuts or portioned. The starting point for this development was the beef industry, which was facing significant discolouration issues, initially in the export market. Nowadays, more and more off-cuts are being portioned for the catering sector. In particular, the more expensive cuts, sourced from South American off-cuts, are highly susceptible to colour changes. This film minimises complaints about discolouration. In addition to colour retention, this film has a high oxygen barrier, which significantly extends the best-before date. Another major advantage is the reduction in moisture loss; this keeps the packaging looking better and means the moisture is less likely to cause bacterial growth. This therefore also offers opportunities for fresh or semi-fresh meat products such as roast beef. In practice, it has also been found that, after opening the packaging, the smell of the meat is immediately noticeably fresher than when opening packaging made with standard films, where a musty odour is often noticeable immediately upon opening. Hibassk® can also be used for cooking processes. Hibassk® is mainly formed on a thermoforming machine, but can also be used as pouches. In summary, Hibassk® offers the following advantages: colour retention longer best-before date less musty odour when opening the packaging less moisture around the product inside the packaging Hibassk® is also suitable for the increasingly popular skin packaging.

Interleavers

Interleavers

Interleavers are used as separators for products such as cheese or cold meats. They are supplied on rolls, to be used as a fully integrated part of the process in, for example, the Weber slicing system; so, whilst the cheese is being sliced, the paper sheets are cut at the same time and placed between the slices. The material is made of paper suitable for use in the food industry, for well-known retailers as well as suppliers in the healthcare sector.

Sample rolls

Sample rolls

In many cases, we cut the film to size ourselves. Van den Broek Packaging operates a number of in-house cutting machines. This enables us to deliver quickly in urgent cases. Furthermore, cutting sample rolls is much quicker than ordering them from a manufacturer. In many cases, carrying out a test is the starting point for the launch of a new product and therefore your first introduction to Van den Broek Packaging as your potential film supplier.
